The Internal Medicine Residency Program at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee is an ACGME-accredited three-year postgraduate training program designed to prepare physicians for independent practice or subspecialty training in internal medicine. The program offers a comprehensive curriculum that balances inpatient hospital care, intensive care unit (ICU) exposure, and ambulatory outpatient medicine. Residents rotate through core clinical rotations including general medicine wards, critical care units, emergency medicine, cardiology, gastroenterology, infectious disease, pulmonary medicine, endocrinology, and geriatrics. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based clinical decision-making, diagnostic reasoning, and longitudinal patient care across diverse populations. Didactic learning occurs through structured conferences, case presentations, and journal club activities. Residents also participate in quality improvement initiatives and have opportunities for scholarly projects, clinical research, and interdisciplinary collaboration with specialists. By the end of training, graduates are well-prepared for board certification in internal medicine and equipped for careers in hospital medicine, outpatient practice, or advanced subspecialty fellowships.
