The Internal Medicine Residency Program at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is a three-year postgraduate clinical training pathway designed to produce highly competent internists ready for independent practice or advanced subspecialty training. The curriculum offers a balanced blend of inpatient medicine, critical care, and ambulatory care experiences, ensuring residents become adept in managing a broad spectrum of adult diseases. Residents train in diverse settings with a strong focus on clinical decision-making, evidence-based practice, and patient-centered care. Opportunities for elective rotations, research involvement, and exposure to subspecialties such as cardiology, gastroenterology, endocrinology and infectious diseases enrich clinical expertise. The program fosters a collaborative and supportive learning environment that emphasizes professionalism, wellness, and lifelong learning. Graduates are well-prepared for the American Board of Internal Medicine certification examination and for future roles in clinical practice, academic medicine, hospital medicine, or fellowship training.
