The General Psychiatry Residency Program at Tower Health – Phoenixville Hospital is an ACGME-accredited four-year graduate medical education pathway that prepares physicians for independent practice and board certification in psychiatry. The program offers a well-rounded clinical experience encompassing inpatient psychiatry, outpatient care, consultation-liaison services, child/adolescent exposure, geriatric psychiatry, community mental health, and substance use disorder treatment. Residents train in both psychopharmacologic and psychotherapeutic approaches, with substantial emphasis on psychotherapy, cultural competence, and a biopsychosocial model of care. Educational support includes structured didactics, supervised clinical rotations, interdisciplinary collaboration, and opportunities for participation in scholarly activity. The program’s mission is to educate a diverse cohort of residents capable of providing high-quality psychiatric care tailored to the needs of diverse patient populations, including marginalized communities. Residents benefit from leadership and mentorship by experienced faculty with strong ties to Drexel University College of Medicine, access a broad range of clinical settings, and are supported in their professional development and wellness throughout training.
