General Psychiatry Residency Program

• Must have an MD, DO, MBBS, or equivalent medical degree from an approved medical school.
• Must have completed at least 4 weeks of clinical psychiatry training during medical school.
• Applicants who graduated more than one year before applying must have worked in psychiatry or a related field after graduation.
• International Medical Graduates (IMGs) must hold a valid ECFMG certificate (valid through at least July 1 of the appointment year).
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; the program sponsors J-1 visas only for applicants requiring a visa.

The General Psychiatry Residency is a 4-year, ACGME-accredited residency program that provides comprehensive training in the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental health and psychiatric disorders across the lifespan. Residents gain extensive clinical experience in inpatient psychiatry, outpatient psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, community psychiatry, and psychotherapy. The program also offers opportunities in research, quality improvement, medical education, leadership development, and elective rotations, preparing graduates for independent psychiatric practice or advanced subspecialty fellowship training.
