Overview
The Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at UC Irvine School of Medicine is a three-year ACGME-accredited advanced training program designed to prepare physicians for comprehensive care of patients with complex pulmonary disorders and critical illnesses. The fellowship provides extensive clinical exposure across UCI Medical Center, VA Long Beach Healthcare System, and Long Beach Medical Center, where fellows manage a diverse range of acute and chronic respiratory diseases and critically ill patients. Training includes advanced pulmonary care, intensive care medicine, bronchoscopy and interventional pulmonary procedures, pleural diseases, thoracic oncology, sleep medicine, pulmonary physiology, and critical care management. The program also emphasizes clinical research, evidence-based medicine, teaching, and academic development, preparing fellows for careers as expert clinicians, educators, and physician researchers in pulmonary and critical care medicine.

Eligibility
- Must have completed at least three years of Internal Medicine training (including internship) at a hospital recognized by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
- Must hold an MD or equivalent medical degree
- Must have completed an accredited Internal Medicine residency program
- Must be eligible for board certification in Internal Medicine
- Must meet UC Irvine Graduate Medical Education (GME) requirements for fellowship appointment
- International medical graduates must meet required USMLE, credential verification, and clinical training requirements

Admission Process:
- Apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)
- Participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Fellowship Match
- Submit required application documents:

- Three Letters of Recommendation (including one from the residency program director)
