• The Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at NYU Grossman School of Medicine is a prestigious three-year ACGME-accredited program designed to train future leaders in pulmonary medicine, intensive care, clinical research, and academic medicine. The fellowship combines comprehensive clinical exposure with a structured educational curriculum and strong mentorship from nationally recognized faculty members.
• Fellows receive extensive inpatient and outpatient experience across multiple high-volume academic medical centers. Training occurs at NYU Langone's Tisch Hospital and Kimmel Pavilion, Bellevue Hospital, VA NY Harbor Healthcare System, and NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn, exposing fellows to diverse patient populations and complex pulmonary and critical care conditions.
• The fellowship curriculum emphasizes both pulmonary medicine and critical care. Fellows manage patients with respiratory failure, chronic lung disease, pulmonary infections, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary vascular disease, sleep disorders, and critically ill medical and surgical patients. They also gain expertise in advanced ventilatory management and multidisciplinary ICU care.
• Procedural training is a major strength of the program. Fellows become proficient in bronchoscopy, airway management, thoracentesis, central venous access, critical care ultrasound, and other pulmonary and critical care procedures. Simulation-based training enhances procedural competence and clinical decision-making skills.
• The program offers specialized exposure to pulmonary hypertension, interstitial lung disease, lung transplantation, infectious lung diseases, advanced bronchoscopy, and critical care echocardiography. Fellows work closely with multidisciplinary teams and subspecialty experts in these areas.
• Research is integrated throughout the fellowship. Fellows participate in clinical, translational, and basic science projects and receive mentorship from established investigators. Dedicated research opportunities prepare trainees for academic careers and scholarly productivity.
• Educational activities include grand rounds, journal clubs, board review sessions, multidisciplinary conferences, radiology conferences, pathology discussions, simulation training, and case presentations. Fellows are encouraged to present research at national meetings and contribute to peer-reviewed publications.
• Graduates are exceptionally well prepared for careers in academic pulmonary medicine, critical care practice, physician-scientist pathways, interventional pulmonology, pulmonary hypertension programs, and healthcare leadership roles.

Step 1:

Complete an MD or equivalent medical degree.
