Fellowship in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine

1. Must hold a medical degree or equivalent qualification.
2. Must complete an accredited three-year residency in Internal Medicine before fellowship entry.
3. Must submit an application through the Electronic Residency Application Service.
4. Must provide the required application documents and credentials according to the fellowship application instructions.
5. Must participate in the Medical Specialties Matching Program through the National Resident Matching Program.
6. Selected applicants must attend an interview; interviews for the 2026–2027 application cycle are conducted virtually.

The Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Yale School of Medicine is a three-year postgraduate training program designed to prepare physicians for careers in pulmonary medicine, intensive care, research, and academic medicine. Fellows receive comprehensive clinical experience in pulmonary diseases, critical care, advanced procedures, and multidisciplinary patient management. At least 18 months are devoted to clinical training, while the remaining 18 months focus on scholarly activity and career development. Research opportunities include molecular biology, genomics, clinical epidemiology, health services research, and translational science. Fellows receive faculty mentorship and may pursue additional academic degrees based on their career goals.
