The Pediatric General and Thoracic Surgery Fellowship at UC Irvine School of Medicine, conducted in partnership with CHOC Children’s Hospital, is a two-year ACGME-accredited clinical training program designed to develop highly skilled and well-rounded pediatric surgeons. The program provides comprehensive exposure to a wide range of pediatric general and thoracic surgical conditions, including congenital anomalies, gastrointestinal disorders, chest and lung diseases, trauma, and complex neonatal cases. Fellows receive intensive hands-on surgical training across high-volume clinical settings, gaining expertise in both open and minimally invasive techniques, while working closely with multidisciplinary pediatric teams. The fellowship strongly emphasizes clinical excellence, academic development, and research involvement, preparing trainees to adapt to evolving surgical practices and to take on leadership roles in pediatric surgery across diverse healthcare environments.
