Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine

• Completion of MD / DO or equivalent medical degree
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency or Family Medicine Residency
• Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Applicants must meet Graduate Medical Education (GME) eligibility requirements
• International Medical Graduates (IMGs) must have:
• Valid ECFMG certification
• Required USMLE examination completion
• Applicants should demonstrate interest in geriatric medicine, aging care, and management of older adults
• Candidates must be eligible for required medical licensure in North Carolina (USA)
• Applicants must satisfy UNC institutional requirements for fellowship appointment and visa eligibility (if applicable)

The Geriatric Medicine Fellowship at UNC School of Medicine is an advanced clinical training program focused on the comprehensive care of older adults with complex medical, functional, and psychosocial needs. The fellowship provides specialized training in geriatric assessment, management of age-related diseases, cognitive disorders, chronic illness, mobility issues, medication management, and preventive healthcare for elderly patients. Fellows gain experience across various clinical settings, including inpatient geriatrics, outpatient geriatric clinics, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation services, and multidisciplinary care teams.
