The Geriatric Medicine Fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is a one-year ACGME-accredited program dedicated to developing leaders in the care of older adults. Through diverse clinical experiences across inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation, home-based, and long-term care settings, fellows gain expertise in addressing the complex medical, functional, cognitive, and psychosocial needs of aging patients. The fellowship emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration with nursing, pharmacy, social work, rehabilitation, and palliative care professionals. Fellows receive training in dementia care, falls prevention, polypharmacy management, advance care planning, and transitions of care. The curriculum includes didactic conferences, quality improvement initiatives, teaching opportunities, and scholarly activities under the mentorship of experienced faculty. Exposure to community-based programs and veterans’ health further broadens clinical perspective. Graduates are well prepared for careers in academic geriatrics, community practice, healthcare leadership, and research focused on healthy aging.
