Dermatology Residency Program

The Dermatology Residency Program at UCSF School of Medicine, San Francisco is an ACGME-accredited three-year clinical training program designed to develop highly skilled dermatologists with expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of dermatologic conditions. The program provides comprehensive exposure to medical dermatology, dermatologic surgery, pediatric dermatology, dermatopathology, inpatient dermatology consultation, and other subspecialty areas through rotations at diverse clinical sites. Residents receive structured clinical training along with daily didactic education, mentorship, research opportunities, and professional development activities. The program also offers specialized pathways, including a Pediatric Dermatology Focus Track and an ABD-approved Physician Scientist (2+2) Research Track for residents interested in investigative dermatology careers. Graduates are prepared for independent clinical practice, academic medicine, research, and leadership roles in dermatology.

6. Applications are reviewed by the Dermatology Resident Selection Committee
7. Selected candidates are invited for interviews
8. Final selection is conducted through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP)
