• Must possess an MD or equivalent medical degree
• Completion of an ACGME-approved PGY-1 internship is mandatory
• Acceptable PGY-1 specialties include:

Transitional Year

• Must apply through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service)
• Participation in NRMP Match required
• USMLE/COMLEX scores required
• Letters of recommendation required
• Personal statement required
• Strong academic and clinical background preferred
• ECFMG certification mandatory for IMGs

• The Dermatology Residency Program at NYU Grossman School of Medicine is among the most prestigious and academically respected dermatology training programs in the United States. Conducted through the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology, the residency is internationally recognized for excellence in clinical training, research, procedural dermatology, and academic medicine.
• Residents receive extensive exposure to a highly diverse patient population through training at NYU Langone’s Tisch Hospital, NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, and the Manhattan campus of the VA NY Harbor Healthcare System. The curriculum is carefully structured to provide balanced education in medical dermatology, dermatologic surgery, inpatient dermatology consultation, cosmetic procedures, and subspecialty dermatology clinics.
• The program offers rotations in specialized clinics including connective tissue disease, psoriasis, cutaneous lymphoma, pediatric dermatology, skin of color, hair disorders, nail disorders, phototherapy, laser dermatology, wound healing, and procedural dermatology. Residents also gain substantial experience in dermatopathology and multidisciplinary patient management.
• NYU’s dermatology department has a historic reputation as one of the pioneering institutions in dermatologic education and research. Residents work closely with nationally and internationally recognized faculty members who actively contribute to innovations in skin disease treatment, clinical trials, and translational research.
• The residency strongly emphasizes evidence-based medicine, academic development, mentorship, leadership training, and scholarly productivity. Residents are encouraged to participate in clinical research projects, publications, conferences, and national dermatology meetings throughout training.
• Graduates of the program frequently pursue competitive fellowships in pediatric dermatology, Mohs surgery, cosmetic dermatology, dermatopathology, and academic dermatology. The residency prepares physicians for leadership roles in both private practice and academic medicine.
