Dermatology Residency Program

1. Possession of an MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
2. Successful completion of required clinical rotations and preliminary year.
3. Eligibility to enroll in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
4. Participation in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) for placement.
5. Applicants must meet all residency program and state medical licensing requirements.

The Dermatology Residency Program at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is a three-year postgraduate training pathway designed to educate and train physicians in the full spectrum of dermatologic practice. Residents begin their specialty training after the transitional first year and progress through a curriculum emphasizing medical dermatology, surgical techniques, dermatopathology, pediatric dermatology, and cosmetic dermatology. Clinical experiences occur across multiple clinical settings including the departmental clinics, affiliated hospitals, and community service sites, exposing residents to general and complex dermatologic conditions. A structured schedule of rotations includes blocks in dermatopathology, cosmetic procedures, Mohs surgery, and specialized clinics such as Skin of Color and cutaneous lymphoma services. Residents participate in academic activities such as daily didactic sessions, journal clubs, grand rounds, and multidisciplinary conferences to enhance clinical knowledge and decision-making. The program fosters scholarly activity, community engagement, and professional development, preparing graduates to sit for the American Board of Dermatology certification examination and pursue careers in clinical practice, academic dermatology, or further subspecialty training.
