Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program

The Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, Brooklyn is a four-year ACGME-accredited residency program designed to provide comprehensive training in women’s healthcare, including both obstetric and gynecologic services. The program offers extensive clinical experience in labor and delivery, high-risk obstetrics, gynecologic surgery, reproductive medicine, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology, family planning, and maternal-fetal medicine. Residents train at Kings County Hospital Center and University Hospital at Downstate, gaining exposure to a diverse patient population with a high volume of deliveries and gynecologic procedures. The program emphasizes hands-on surgical training, clinical decision-making, patient care, research, and teaching activities, preparing graduates for independent practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology, subspecialty fellowship training, or academic careers.

3. Applications and credentials are reviewed by the Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency Selection Committee
4. Selected candidates are invited for a formal interview with the residency program faculty
5. Final selection is completed through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP)
6. Selected residents complete onboarding and begin the 4-year Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program
