The Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is an ACGME-accredited four-year residency designed to prepare physicians for excellence in clinical practice, academic medicine, research, and subspecialty training. Residents spend approximately two-thirds of their training at the nationally recognized Prentice Women's Hospital, part of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and the remaining one-third at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, providing experience with a diverse patient population and a broad spectrum of obstetric and gynecologic conditions. The curriculum combines high-volume clinical training with structured didactics, simulation-based education, multidisciplinary conferences, and protected research opportunities. Residents receive progressive responsibility in obstetrics, gynecologic surgery, maternal-fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology, and minimally invasive surgery. Unique career-development blocks—including FLEX, Cappuccino, and COFFYE electives—allow residents to pursue research, away rotations, global health experiences, or focused subspecialty training. The program emphasizes evidence-based medicine, health equity, interdisciplinary collaboration, leadership development, and resident wellness. Graduates are exceptionally well prepared for certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and for careers in academic medicine, private practice, hospital-based care, or competitive fellowship programs.
