Neurology Residency Program

The Adult Neurology Residency Program at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, Brooklyn is a four-year ACGME-accredited categorical residency program designed to provide comprehensive training in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of adult neurological disorders. The program includes a foundational year of Internal Medicine followed by three years of specialized Neurology training, offering extensive clinical exposure in inpatient and outpatient neurology, stroke care, epilepsy, neurocritical care, neuro-oncology, movement disorders, neuromuscular diseases, headache medicine, and other subspecialties. Residents gain hands-on experience through rotations at University Hospital at Downstate, Kings County Hospital Center, and Brooklyn VA Hospital, along with opportunities for research, electives, and academic activities. The program focuses on developing clinical expertise, patient-centered care skills, and scholarly abilities, preparing graduates for independent neurology practice and eligibility for American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) certification.
