Neurology Residency Program

1. MD or DO degree from an accredited medical institution
2. Passing USMLE/COMLEX scores on required Steps/Levels
3. ECFMG certificate (for international applicants)

The Neurology Residency Program at Reading Hospital offers a robust and structured educational pathway for trainees pursuing careers in clinical neurology. As an ACGME-accredited categorical program, it integrates inpatient and outpatient experiences across a wide range of neurologic subspecialties including stroke care, epilepsy management, neurophysiology (EEG/EMG), movement disorders, neuromuscular disorders, and neurocritical care. Training is delivered in the context of a busy academic community hospital with high case volume and multidisciplinary collaborations, giving residents hands-on clinical experience in both acute and longitudinal patient care. Residents benefit from teaching by board-certified neurologists — including faculty with expertise in epilepsy, neurophysiology, and other subspecialties — many of whom hold academic appointments at Drexel University College of Medicine. The program supports resident participation in continuity clinic, didactic conferences, and professional development opportunities. International medical graduates are eligible with proper credentials, and the program supports J-1 visa sponsorship. Ultimately, graduates are prepared for board certification in neurology and equipped with clinical skills for independent practice or fellowship training.
