Neurology Residency Program

• Hold an MD or DO degree from an accredited or approved medical school.
• Apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
• Register with the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
• Submit Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE/Dean's Letter).
• Submit three letters of recommendation (preferably including one from a Neurology faculty member; a Neurology Chair's letter is preferred but not mandatory).
• Submit medical school transcripts and a personal statement.
• Pass USMLE Step 1 (required for application review) and Step 2 CK before starting residency.
• International Medical Graduates (IMGs) must meet UC Irvine's eligibility requirements, including graduation from an approved medical school; U.S. clinical experience is strongly recommended.

The Neurology Residency Program at UC Irvine School of Medicine is a four-year, ACGME-accredited residency that provides comprehensive training in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of neurological disorders. Residents gain extensive experience in general neurology, stroke, epilepsy, neurocritical care, movement disorders, neuromuscular medicine, neuro-oncology, neuroimmunology, and pediatric neurology, while participating in research, multidisciplinary patient care, and academic conferences to prepare for independent clinical practice or subspecialty fellowship training.
