Fellowship in Infectious Diseases (FID)

1. Graduate of an accredited MD or DO program
2. Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine residency
3. Valid USMLE/COMLEX Step scores (Step I, Step II CK)
4. Eligibility for Pennsylvania medical licensure prior to fellowship start
5. Submission of required fellowship application materials (CV, personal statement, letters of recommendation)
6. Successful interview and selection through the ERAS process.

The Infectious Disease Fellowship at Reading Hospital – Tower Health is an ACGME-accredited two-year advanced training pathway aimed at producing highly skilled infectious disease specialists. Fellows care for a diverse patient population and encounter a wide range of infectious conditions — from routine community infections to complex and unusual bacterial, viral, parasitic, and fungal diseases — under the supervision of experienced infectious disease faculty. The program integrates inpatient consultative services, longitudinal outpatient HIV care at the Reading Hospital Center for Public Health Ryan White Clinic, antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention, travel medicine, and diagnostic microbiology exposure. Structured clinical experiences are complemented by research opportunities, multidisciplinary case conferences, and focused didactics to deepen clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice. Fellows engage in both clinical service and scholarly work while developing leadership skills and teaching experience. Graduates are prepared for board certification in Infectious Disease and for careers in academic medicine, hospital or clinical practice, and public health roles.
