Fellowship in Infectious Diseases (FID)

The Infectious Diseases Medicine Fellowship at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, Brooklyn is a two-year advanced clinical training program designed to provide comprehensive expertise in the prevention, diagnosis, and management of infectious diseases. The fellowship offers extensive exposure to complex infections through inpatient consultation services, outpatient infectious disease clinics, HIV care, antimicrobial stewardship programs, infection prevention, microbiology, and hospital epidemiology. Fellows gain hands-on experience managing a broad range of conditions, including bacterial, viral, fungal, parasitic, HIV-related, transplant-related, and healthcare-associated infections. The program also emphasizes clinical research, evidence-based practice, and academic development, preparing fellows for careers in infectious disease consultation, hospital medicine, public health, and academic medicine.
