Fellowship in Infectious Diseases (FID)

1. Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency.
2. Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Oklahoma.
3. Valid ECFMG certification for international medical graduates (if applicable).
4. Application submission through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service).
5. Participation in the NRMP Fellowship Match.
6. Demonstrated interest in infectious diseases through clinical exposure, research, or electives.

The Infectious Disease Fellowship at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is a focused two-year postgraduate training program designed to prepare physicians for expert practice in the diagnosis and management of complex infections. The fellowship offers broad clinical experience in inpatient and outpatient infectious disease care, including HIV/AIDS management, antimicrobial stewardship, tropical and travel medicine, fungal and emerging infections, and infection control practices. Fellows participate in consult services at tertiary care hospitals, engage in multidisciplinary care planning, and collaborate with microbiology and public health teams. The curriculum integrates didactic lectures, case conferences, journal clubs, and quality improvement projects, fostering expertise in evidence-based clinical practice and scholarly activity. Research opportunities span clinical trials, epidemiology, and diagnostic innovations. Graduates are well-prepared for American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) certification in Infectious Disease and for careers in academic institutions, hospital consult services, public health agencies, or infectious disease practice.
