Fellowship in Clinical Cardiac Electro Physiology

The Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP) Fellowship at UNC School of Medicine, Chapel Hill is an advanced subspecialty training program designed to provide comprehensive expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac rhythm disorders. The fellowship focuses on advanced electrophysiology techniques, including invasive electrophysiology studies, catheter ablation procedures, pacemaker and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) management, and complex arrhythmia care. Fellows receive extensive clinical training through patient care, procedural experience, multidisciplinary conferences, research activities, and mentorship from experienced cardiovascular specialists. The program prepares physicians for independent practice as cardiac electrophysiologists and develops expertise in managing complex rhythm disorders and advanced cardiac device therapies

1. Applicants must submit an application through the designated fellowship application system (typically Electronic Residency Application Service – ERAS for accredited EP fellowship programs).
2. Submit required application documents, including:

• ERAS application form
• Curriculum Vitae (CV)
• Personal statement
• Medical school transcript
• USMLE/COMLEX examination records (as applicable)
• Letters of recommendation (including a letter from the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program Director)
• ECFMG certification documents for eligible International Medical Graduates (IMGs)

1. Applications are reviewed by the Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship Selection Committee.
2. Selected candidates are invited for interviews with program faculty.
3. Final selection is completed through the fellowship appointment/matching process as applicable.
4. Selected fellows begin advanced training in cardiac electrophysiology, including arrhythmia management, electrophysiology studies, catheter ablation procedures, and cardiac device therapies.
