Fellowship in Clinical Cardiac Electro Physiology

1. Successfully completed an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency.
2. Completed an accredited Cardiology Fellowship (General Cardiology training).
3. Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Oklahoma (e.g., ECFMG certification for international graduates).
4. Registration through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service) and NRMP match for fellowship.
5. Strong academic performance, letters of recommendation, research or clinical experience relevant to electrophysiology subspecialty.

The Internal Medicine – Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is an advanced subspecialty training pathway for physicians who have completed internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship. Supported by the Department of Internal Medicine’s Cardiovascular Section, the program focuses on arrhythmia management, advanced electrophysiological diagnostic techniques, interventional procedures such as catheter ablations, and the use of implantable devices including pacemakers and defibrillators. The Heart Rhythm Institute at OUHSC contributes to cutting-edge research and clinical expertise in electrophysiology and heart rhythm disorders, fostering collaboration among cardiologists, internists, and multidisciplinary specialists. Training emphasizes hands-on clinical exposure, procedural proficiency, evidence-based learning, and scholarly activity. Fellows rotate through comprehensive electrophysiology labs, device clinics, and consultative services at major teaching hospitals including OU Medical Center and VA Medical Center, giving diverse clinical experiences.
