The Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is a two-year ACGME-accredited fellowship offered through the Division of Cardiology at the internationally recognized Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute. The program trains five fellows in a high-volume academic environment dedicated to the comprehensive management of cardiac rhythm disorders. Fellows receive hands-on experience in three state-of-the-art electrophysiology laboratories equipped with advanced biplane fluoroscopy and three-dimensional electroanatomic mapping systems. Clinical training encompasses the full spectrum of arrhythmia care, including pacemaker implantation, implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) implantation, cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT), catheter ablation of supraventricular tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, idiopathic ventricular tachycardia, and ventricular tachycardia associated with structural heart disease. Fellows also gain expertise in epicardial ablation, intracardiac imaging technologies, and complex lead extraction procedures. Weekly electrogram review conferences, didactic teaching sessions, journal clubs, and multidisciplinary case discussions complement the clinical curriculum. In addition, fellows actively participate in basic, translational, and clinical research projects with opportunities to present at national scientific meetings and publish in peer-reviewed journals, preparing graduates for leadership careers in academic electrophysiology and advanced cardiovascular care.
