Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine is a 2-year ACGME-accredited fellowship providing comprehensive training in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and young adults. Fellows gain clinical experience across inpatient psychiatry, neuropsychiatric care, consultation-liaison services, emergency psychiatry, partial hospitalization, eating disorders, outpatient psychiatry, school-based mental health, autism assessment, pediatric neurology, community mental health, and integrated care. The program includes structured psychotherapy training, weekly didactics, regular supervision, and individualized electives in areas such as research, perinatal mental health, DBT, advocacy, leadership, and rural mental health. Training uses a developmental and neurobiological framework that considers family, culture, community, and environmental factors, preparing fellows for comprehensive evidence-based psychiatric care from infancy through young adulthood.

1. Submit the fellowship application through the program's designated application process
2. Provide the required application materials, including CV, personal statement, medical school and residency information, examination/licensure documentation, and letters of recommendation, as requested by the program
3. The program reviews applications based on clinical preparation, academic background, interest in child and adolescent psychiatry, interpersonal skills, and overall suitability for the program
4. Selected applicants are invited for an interview
5. Participate in interviews with program leadership and faculty
6. Successful applicants complete the University's required GME appointment, licensing, credentialing, and onboarding requirements
7. Begin the 2-year ACGME-accredited Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship upon appointment
