Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

1. MD or DO from an accredited medical school
2. Completion of an ACGME-accredited general psychiatry residency
3. Passing USMLE/COMLEX exam scores
4. Valid Pennsylvania medical licensure (or eligibility) by fellowship start
5. Fellowship application submitted via ERAS
6. A minimum of 3 letters of recommendation and personal statement
7. Support for J-1 visa sponsorship is available for eligible candidates

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Phoenixville Hospital offers advanced subspecialty training that equips psychiatrist fellows to expertly care for children and adolescents with a wide range of behavioral and psychiatric conditions. Established through a merger of Drexel University College of Medicine’s psychiatry program and Tower Health’s clinical infrastructure, the program fosters compassionate, evidence-based practice that is trauma-informed and culturally sensitive. Fellows rotate through diverse clinical environments including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, consult-liaison services, developmental psychiatry, substance use settings, and partial hospitalization programs. The curriculum emphasizes psychopharmacology, psychotherapy (including cognitive behavioral, family, group and supportive therapies), interdisciplinary teamwork, and advocacy tailored to youth and their families. Clinical and didactic training is complemented by opportunities to engage in research, quality improvement, and community mental health initiatives. Fellows graduate prepared for board certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and capable of practice in academic, clinical, and community settings with a strong foundation in patient-centered, developmentally informed care.
