About Course

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, Brooklyn is a two-year ACGME-accredited fellowship program designed to provide advanced clinical training in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of psychiatric disorders affecting children, adolescents, and their families. The program offers comprehensive training at SUNY Downstate, NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, New York City Children’s Center (NYCCC) Brooklyn Campus, and affiliated clinical sites. Fellows gain experience in inpatient child and adolescent psychiatry, psychiatric emergency services, consultation-liaison psychiatry, developmental evaluations, outpatient psychiatry, psychotherapy, and psychopharmacology. The curriculum emphasizes evidence-based assessment and treatment, family-focused care, developmental psychiatry, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), research and scholarly activities, and multidisciplinary collaboration. The fellowship prepares graduates for independent practice as Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists in academic, hospital, community, and private practice settings.
