Overview
- The Anesthesiology Residency Program at NYU Grossman School of Medicine is one of the leading anesthesiology training programs in the United States. The program is conducted under the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Care, and Pain Medicine and provides extensive clinical exposure across multiple tertiary care hospitals within the NYU Langone Health system.
- Residents receive hands-on training in perioperative medicine, airway management, critical care, pain medicine, and subspecialty anesthesiology. Clinical rotations are conducted at Tisch Hospital, Kimmel Pavilion, Bellevue Hospital, and VA NY Harbor Healthcare System. The program includes both Manhattan and Brooklyn training tracks.
- The residency strongly emphasizes evidence-based medicine, simulation-based learning, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Residents participate in nearly 500 hours of conferences, lectures, seminars, morbidity and mortality meetings, and clinical case discussions annually.
- The department also offers substantial research opportunities in neuroscience, pain medicine, regional anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, and perioperative outcomes. Residents can participate in clinical and laboratory research projects with faculty mentorship.
- Advanced exposure to cardiac anesthesia, neuroanesthesia, obstetric anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, and intensive care medicine prepares graduates for fellowship training and academic or private practice careers. The program promotes resident wellness, professional growth, leadership development, and high-level procedural competency.
