Overview
The Anesthesiology Residency Program at UMass Chan Medical School is a 4-year categorical residency consisting of a Clinical Base Year followed by three years of dedicated clinical anesthesia training. The program provides comprehensive exposure to general and subspecialty anesthesia, critical care, acute and chronic pain, obstetric and pediatric anesthesia, cardiothoracic and neuroanesthesia, regional anesthesia, ambulatory anesthesia and perioperative medicine. Training combines extensive clinical experience with didactic teaching, simulation, point-of-care ultrasound, research, quality improvement and patient safety activities.

Eligibility
- Medical degree: Graduate of a U.S./Canadian LCME-accredited medical school or an AOA-accredited osteopathic medical school, or an international medical graduate with a valid ECFMG Certificate before appointment.
- USMLE/COMLEX: Passing scores on USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK, or equivalent COMLEX examinations, are required.
- Applicants must satisfy UMass Chan GME and Massachusetts medical licensure requirements
- International medical graduates must maintain the appropriate U.S. immigration/visa status
- The program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).

Admission Process:
- Apply through ERAS for the residency program. UMass Chan states that programs participating in ERAS require applicants to register and apply through ERAS.
- Submit the required application materials, including CV, personal statement, medical school transcripts/MSPE, USMLE or COMLEX scores and letters of recommendation
- The application is reviewed by the residency selection committee
- Selected applicants are invited for an interview
- Applicants participate in the NRMP Match
- Candidates who match must complete UMass Chan's institutional appointment, credentialing and licensing requirements before starting residency
