Neonatal Perinatal Medicine Fellowship

The Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine is a three-year fellowship combining comprehensive clinical training, academic scholarship, medical education, and leadership development. Fellows train at Children’s Hospital Colorado (Level IV NICU) and University of Colorado Hospital (Level III NICU), with an optional rotation at Denver Health Medical Center. Clinical training covers a broad range of neonatal conditions across different gestational ages and includes high-risk deliveries, neonatal resuscitation, respiratory failure, congenital heart disease, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, ECMO, surgical conditions, and complex congenital anomalies. Fellows also receive protected research time and complete a substantive scholarly project, with opportunities in basic science, clinical research, health services, quality improvement, and medical education. The program includes weekly protected didactic sessions, procedural training, teaching opportunities, and leadership and career-development activities.

1. Submit the application through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service)
2. Submit the completed ERAS Common Application Form
3. Submit USMLE or COMLEX/ECFMG transcript
4. Submit a Personal Statement addressing interest in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
5. Submit at least 3 letters of recommendation
6. The program participates in the NRMP (National Resident Matching Program)
7. The program does not offer fellowship positions outside the NRMP Match
8. Applications for the July cycle can be submitted from July 1, 2026
9. Programs can begin reviewing applications from July 15, 2026
10. Interviews are conducted virtually, generally from mid-September through the end of October
11. Candidates meet with faculty members and current fellows during the interview
12. Match Day: December 2, 2026
