Neonatal Perinatal Medicine Fellowship

• Must possess an MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree from an accredited medical school.
• Must have completed or be completing an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Residency Program.
• Must meet the University of Illinois Graduate Medical Education (GME) requirements for fellowship appointment.
• Must fulfill required U.S. medical licensing and credentialing requirements before starting the fellowship.
• International Medical Graduates (IMGs) must have appropriate ECFMG certification and meet visa requirements.
• Candidates must participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Match.
• The program sponsors J-1 visas only (H-1B visa sponsorship depends on UIC GME approval).

The Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship is a 3-year, ACGME-accredited fellowship program that provides advanced training in the care of critically ill newborns, premature infants, and high-risk pregnancies. The program offers comprehensive clinical experience in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), neonatal transport, delivery room management, high-risk infant follow-up, and perinatal care. Fellows receive training in areas including neonatal critical care, respiratory management, nutrition, developmental care, neonatal procedures, maternal-fetal medicine, research, quality improvement, and medical education. The fellowship prepares physicians for independent practice as neonatologists and for careers in academic medicine, clinical research, and leadership in neonatal healthcare.
