The Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program at UCSF School of Medicine is a three-year advanced clinical fellowship designed to train future academic leaders, physician-scientists, educators, and specialists in pulmonary and critical care medicine. The program provides comprehensive clinical training in the diagnosis and management of complex lung diseases and critically ill patients, including respiratory failure, chronic lung diseases, pulmonary infections, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, lung cancer, and intensive care conditions. Fellows receive training across UCSF Health, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, and San Francisco VA Health Care System, with exposure to diverse patient populations and high-acuity ICU settings. The curriculum includes pulmonary medicine, critical care rotations, bronchoscopy and procedural training, outpatient clinics, research activities, mentorship, quality improvement projects, and career development opportunities. The program emphasizes individualized training pathways in research, education, transplant medicine, interventional pulmonary, sleep medicine, and other areas to prepare graduates for successful careers in academic and clinical practice.
