Fellowship in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine

The Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, Brooklyn is a three-year ACGME-accredited combined fellowship program designed to provide advanced training in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of pulmonary diseases and critically ill patients. The program offers comprehensive clinical experience in Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine, with fellows spending the first two years focused on pulmonary disease training and the third year dedicated to critical care medicine. Fellows receive training in inpatient pulmonary consultations, intensive care units, pulmonary function testing, sleep medicine, bronchoscopy, respiratory procedures, mechanical ventilation, and management of complex pulmonary and critical care conditions. The curriculum includes outpatient pulmonary clinics, ICU rotations, procedural training, research projects, journal clubs, conferences, and academic activities. The program prepares graduates for careers in pulmonary medicine, critical care medicine, academic practice, and advanced subspecialty areas such as interventional pulmonology and sleep medicine.
