Fellowship in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine

1. Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency.
2. Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Oklahoma.
3. Valid ECFMG certification for international medical graduates (if applicable).
4. Application through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service).
5. Participation in the NRMP Fellowship Match.
6. Demonstrated clinical interest in pulmonology, critical care, or intensive care medicine.

The Pulmonary Disease & Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is an intensive three-year postgraduate training program designed to develop expert clinicians in respiratory and critical care medicine. The program provides comprehensive exposure to pulmonary diagnostics, advanced ventilatory management, bronchoscopy, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, and sleep-related breathing disorders. Fellows also receive extensive hands-on training in medical, surgical, and neurological intensive care units, managing patients with respiratory failure, sepsis, shock, and multi-organ dysfunction. The curriculum integrates structured didactics, simulation-based training, multidisciplinary ICU rounds, and procedural skill development. Research, quality improvement, and teaching are integral components of fellowship training. Graduates are well prepared for American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) certification in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine and careers in academic medicine, tertiary care hospitals, or advanced critical care practice.
