Fellowship in Nephrology

1. Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency.
2. Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Oklahoma.
3. Valid ECFMG certification for international medical graduates (if applicable).
4. Application submission through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service).
5. Participation in the NRMP Fellowship Match.
6. Demonstrated clinical interest in nephrology, dialysis, or renal research.

The Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is a comprehensive two-year postgraduate training program designed to prepare physicians for advanced clinical practice and academic leadership in kidney disease management. Fellows receive extensive exposure to inpatient and outpatient nephrology, including acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, glomerular disorders, hypertension, electrolyte abnormalities, and renal replacement therapies. Training includes hands-on experience in hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy, and pre- and post-kidney transplant care. Fellows participate in multidisciplinary rounds, transplant conferences, and dialysis unit management. The curriculum integrates structured didactics, journal clubs, research projects, and quality improvement initiatives. Graduates are well prepared for American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) certification in Nephrology and careers in academic medicine, transplant centers, or advanced clinical nephrology practice.
