The Hematopathology Fellowship at NYU Grossman School of Medicine is a prestigious ACGME-accredited one-year advanced training program offered through the Department of Pathology. The fellowship provides comprehensive training in the diagnosis of hematopoietic and lymphoid disorders through extensive exposure to bone marrow pathology, lymph node pathology, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, cytogenetics, and molecular diagnostics. NYU Langone processes more than 4,500 solid lymphoid tissue specimens, approximately 2,000 bone marrow specimens, and over 11,000 flow cytometry specimens annually, providing fellows with exceptional case volume and diagnostic diversity. Fellows work closely with expert hematopathologists and collaborate with the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, gaining exposure to complex leukemia, lymphoma, plasma cell neoplasm, and bone marrow failure cases. Training emphasizes an integrated diagnostic approach that combines morphology, immunophenotyping, cytogenetics, and next-generation sequencing technologies. Fellows actively participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, pathology conferences, educational seminars, and clinical consultations. The program also encourages scholarly research, academic publications, and presentations at national pathology meetings. Graduates are well prepared for careers in academic pathology, tertiary cancer centers, reference laboratories, and specialized hematopathology practices.
