Fellowship in Hematopathology

• MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree.
• Completion of an accredited AP/CP or CP pathology residency.
• Board eligible or board certified in Pathology.
• Eligible for Illinois medical licensure.
• Submission of a fellowship application, CV, personal statement, and letters of recommendation.
• Successful completion of interviews and credentialing.

The Hematopathology Fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is a one-year ACGME-accredited program offering comprehensive training in the diagnosis of benign and malignant hematologic disorders. Fellows gain extensive experience interpreting bone marrow biopsies, peripheral blood smears, lymph node specimens, and flow cytometric studies. The curriculum integrates morphology with cytogenetic and molecular findings to foster a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and patient care. Fellows participate in hematology conferences, tumor boards, and collaborative consultations with clinicians across the cancer center. Opportunities for research, teaching, and scholarly publication are incorporated throughout the fellowship year. Close mentorship from expert faculty and exposure to a high volume of complex cases prepare graduates for successful careers in academic and community hematopathology practice.
