Fellowship in Advance Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology

1. Completion of an ACGME-accredited Cardiovascular Disease (Cardiology) Fellowship
2. Board eligibility in Cardiovascular Disease at start of the advanced fellowship
3. Submission of a complete ERAS application
4. Personal statement, letters of recommendation, transcripts, and USMLE/COMLEX scores
5. Visa status documentation for non-U.S. citizens (H visa sponsorship typically not provided)

The Heart Failure & Transplant Fellowship at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center is a one-year, ACGME-accredited postgraduate cardiology fellowship focused on the complex care of patients with advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support (including ventricular assist devices), pulmonary hypertension, and cardiac transplantation. The program emphasizes clinical excellence, academic scholarship, and multidisciplinary patient care in a high-volume clinical environment — Aurora St. Luke’s has one of the largest advanced heart failure and transplant programs in Wisconsin with extensive experience in VAD management and transplant care. Fellows rotate through inpatient and outpatient services, engage in advanced diagnostics, participate in transplant selection and post-transplant care, and gain expertise in immunosuppressive management and device therapy. Structured clinical conferences, research requirements, and interdisciplinary case discussions augment the hands-on training. Graduates are prepared for leadership roles in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology in academic and clinical settings.
