Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Fellowship

The Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Fellowship at UNC School of Medicine, Chapel Hill is an advanced subspecialty training program designed to provide specialized expertise in the evaluation and management of patients with advanced heart failure, cardiomyopathies, cardiac transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support therapies. The fellowship focuses on comprehensive care of patients with complex heart failure conditions, including pre-transplant evaluation, transplant medicine, post-transplant management, ventricular assist device (VAD) therapy, cardiogenic shock management, and advanced heart failure treatment strategies. Fellows receive extensive clinical training through inpatient and outpatient care, multidisciplinary heart failure teams, advanced cardiac imaging, hemodynamic assessment, research activities, and collaboration with specialists in cardiology, cardiac surgery, and transplant medicine. The program prepares physicians to provide expert care for patients with end-stage heart disease and pursue careers in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology.
