Dermatology Residency Program

1. Graduates of medical schools in the United States or Canada accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education are eligible.
2. Graduates of colleges of osteopathic medicine in the United States or Canada accredited by the American Osteopathic Association are eligible.
3. International medical graduates must possess a valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates or hold a full unrestricted medical license in the United States jurisdiction where they will train.
4. Applicants should demonstrate academic excellence, motivation, and maturity.
5. United States Medical Licensing Examination Step 2 is not required for application review, and there is no minimum Step 2 score for consideration.

The Dermatology Residency Program at UAB provides comprehensive clinical and academic training in dermatology through inpatient and outpatient rotations. Residents receive training in medical dermatology, dermatopathology, pediatric dermatology, dermatologic surgery, consultation services, and cosmetic dermatology. The curriculum also includes daily didactic sessions, dermatopathology conferences, Grand Rounds, journal clubs, research, teaching, and clinical presentations. Residents gain extensive clinical exposure through more than 47,000 annual patient encounters across UAB-affiliated sites.

2. Participate in the National Resident Matching Program.
3. Submit the required application and supporting documents through the Electronic Residency Application Service.
4. The program reviews all submitted applications.
5. Selected applicants are invited for an interview, generally held in early December.
6. Final residency positions are offered through the National Resident Matching Program.
