Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship

The Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship at UMass Chan Medical School is a three-year, ACGME-accredited program for physicians who have completed an Internal Medicine residency, delivered by a division of 30+ faculty members with a strong focus on medical education and supported by UMass Memorial Medical Center's high patient and procedural volume. The curriculum covers echocardiography and nuclear cardiology training that meets NBE and CBNC certification requirements, advanced heart failure management including VADs and heart transplantation (via a Tufts Medical Center rotation), advanced cardiac imaging (MRI/CT), dedicated vascular medicine training, and ambulatory experience in specialty clinics such as adult congenital heart disease, pregnancy/cardio-obstetrics, and pulmonary hypertension. With a strong emphasis on research and a collegial, supportive training environment, the program prepares fellows for board certification in Cardiovascular Disease through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).

1. Applications are submitted through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service)
2. Fellows are selected through the NRMP (National Resident Matching Program)
3. Submit required documents: CV, letters of recommendation, personal statement, medical school transcript, USMLE/COMLEX scores, internal medicine residency training verification
4. Selected candidates are invited to interview with the Cardiovascular Medicine faculty and leadership team
5. Both program and applicant submit rank lists; results announced through NRMP Match Day
6. Upon matching, complete credentialing, license verification, and pre-employment checks before the fellowship start date
