Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship

• Must have completed Internal Medicine Residency training
• Must be board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine
• Must obtain a California Medical License before beginning the fellowship
• Must fulfill U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or appropriate visa requirements before starting the fellowship
• H-1B visa sponsorship is not accepted by the program
• Applicants should meet all UC Irvine Graduate Medical Education (GME) requirements for fellowship appointment.

The Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship at UC Irvine School of Medicine is a three-year ACGME-accredited fellowship program designed to provide comprehensive advanced training in all aspects of cardiovascular care. The program offers extensive clinical, academic, and research experiences through training at UCI Medical Center, VA Long Beach Healthcare System, and MemorialCare Heart and Vascular Institute, where fellows manage a diverse range of cardiovascular diseases and complex cardiac conditions. The curriculum includes training in cardiac catheterization, coronary care, echocardiography, electrophysiology, heart failure and transplant cardiology, nuclear cardiology, cardiac CT/MRI, structural heart disease, adult congenital heart disease, and preventive cardiology. Fellows participate in outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary conferences, quality improvement projects, and mentored research activities with protected research time to develop clinical expertise and academic skills. The fellowship prepares graduates to become independent cardiologists and pursue careers in clinical practice, academic medicine, and cardiovascular research.
