Overview
he Sports Medicine Fellowship at UC Irvine School of Medicine is a one-year ACGME-accredited fellowship program designed to train physicians as skilled sports medicine clinicians, team physicians, and educators. The program provides comprehensive training in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries affecting patients and athletes of all ages. Fellows receive clinical experience through Primary Care and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine rotations, along with specialty rotations in areas such as pediatric sports medicine, cardiology, rheumatology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, musculoskeletal radiology, and physical therapy. The fellowship also includes advanced training in sports ultrasound, clinical procedures, team physician responsibilities, event coverage, research, quality improvement projects, and medical education, preparing graduates for careers in academic sports medicine, primary care, and athletic healthcare.

Eligibility
- Must have completed an ACGME-accredited residency program in one of the following specialties:
- Family Medicine
- Internal Medicine
- Emergency Medicine
- Pediatrics
- Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R)
- Must be board-certified or board-eligible in the primary specialty
- Must be eligible for Sports Medicine Fellowship training and medical licensure in California
- Candidates should demonstrate interest in sports medicine, musculoskeletal care, athlete health, and clinical education
- Must meet UC Irvine Graduate Medical Education (GME) requirements for fellowship appointment.

Admission Process:

- Participate in the Sports Medicine Fellowship Match process as required by the program
