Overview
The Sports Medicine Fellowship at University of Illinois College of Medicine (UICOM), Chicago is a 1-year ACGME-accredited fellowship program designed to provide advanced training in the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of sports-related injuries and musculoskeletal conditions. Fellows receive comprehensive clinical exposure through rotations with sports medicine physiatrists, orthopedic sports medicine physicians, and primary care sports medicine specialists. The program includes hands-on training in NCAA Division I athletics, athletic training room clinics, sports event coverage, diagnostic ultrasound, ultrasound-guided injections, prolotherapy/PRP procedures, casting, splinting, suturing, research, and academic activities. The fellowship prepares physicians for advanced careers in sports medicine and eligibility for sports medicine subspecialty certification

Eligibility
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program in one of the following specialties:
- Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R)
- Family Medicine
- Internal Medicine
- Emergency Medicine
- Pediatrics
- Med-Peds
- Must be a board-eligible or board-certified physician in the respective specialty
- Applicants must have completed the required residency training before starting the fellowship
- Must meet U.S. medical licensure eligibility requirements for fellowship training

Admission Process:
- Applicants must submit their application through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)
- Applications are reviewed by the fellowship selection committee
- Selected candidates are invited for an interview process
- Final candidates are selected based on academic record, residency training, clinical experience, and interview performance
- The program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Sports Medicine Fellowship
