The Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Residency Program at Reading Hospital (Tower Health) provides comprehensive postgraduate training in physiatry with a balanced emphasis on inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient care, interdisciplinary clinics, and procedural skills. Residents train at state-of-the‐art facilities — including Reading Hospital Rehabilitation at Wyomissing, a 111-bed rehab hospital with CARF-certified stroke, amputee, and brain injury specialty programs — where they care for diverse patient populations and complex cases. Residents participate in robust rotations covering inpatient rehab units, outpatient musculoskeletal medicine, electrodiagnostic testing (EMG), pain management, sports medicine, pediatric rehabilitation at Good Shepherd Pediatric Rehabilitation Center, and specialty interdisciplinary clinics involving orthotics, prosthetics, movement disorders, and spinal cord injury care. The curriculum blends hands-on clinical experience with structured didactics, mentorship from experienced faculty, interdisciplinary team collaboration, and exposure to advanced technologies such as exoskeleton systems, aquatics therapy, and gait-balance platforms. This well-rounded training prepares graduates for independent clinical practice, leadership roles, and competitive fellowship opportunities while fostering lifelong learning and excellence in patient-centered rehabilitation care.
