The Pathology Residency Program at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is a fully accredited training program in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP) that offers a comprehensive and hands-on approach to disease diagnosis through both laboratory medicine and tissue-based analysis. Residents are trained across multiple affiliated hospitals, gaining exposure to a broad and diverse case mix including surgical pathology, cytopathology, hematopathology, microbiology, transfusion medicine, and neuropathology. The program emphasizes practical diagnostic skills, interdisciplinary collaboration, and research involvement, supported by experienced faculty and a high-volume clinical environment. With structured rotations, academic conferences, and progressive responsibility, the program prepares residents to become competent pathologists ready for independent practice or further subspecialty fellowship training.
