Pathology residency programs

• Must hold an MD (Doctor of Medicine) or equivalent medical degree from an accredited medical school
• Must apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)
• Must participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP)
• Must submit required documents including CV, personal statement, medical school transcript, MSPE, and letters of recommendation
• International Medical Graduates must meet U.S. residency requirements (e.g., appropriate certification for clinical training)
• Applicants are evaluated based on academic performance, clinical experience, research background, and overall application strength

The Pathology Residency Program at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is an ACGME-accredited program with a duration of 3–4 years depending on the selected track (AP, CP, AP/CP, or AP/Neuropathology). It provides comprehensive training in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and multiple subspecialties such as surgical pathology, cytopathology, hematopathology, molecular diagnostics, microbiology, transfusion medicine, and laboratory management. Residents gain hands-on diagnostic experience, participate in interdisciplinary conferences, engage in research activities, and receive mentorship from expert faculty, preparing them for careers in diagnostic pathology, academic medicine, and biomedical research.
