Pathology residency programs

Step 1:

Complete an MD or equivalent medical degree from a recognized medical school.

Step 2:

Register through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service).

Step 3:

Prepare and submit required documents:

• Academic transcripts
• USMLE/COMLEX scores
• Curriculum Vitae (CV)
• Personal statement
• Dean’s Letter/MSPE
• Letters of recommendation
• ECFMG certificate (for IMGs)

Step 4:

Apply through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).

Step 5:

Select preferred residency track:

• AP
• CP
• AP/CP
• AP/NP

Step 6:

Applications are reviewed by the Pathology Residency Selection Committee.

Step 7:

Qualified applicants are invited for interviews.

Step 8:

Applicants are ranked through the NRMP Match process.

Step 9:

Matched candidates complete onboarding requirements and begin residency training in July.

Applications generally follow annual ERAS and NRMP timelines.
