About Course

The Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery Residency Program at UAB Heersink School of Medicine provides comprehensive five-year training in the medical and surgical management of disorders involving the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck. Residents receive progressive clinical and operative experience in areas including general otolaryngology, head and neck oncology, endocrine surgery, pediatric otolaryngology, otology and neurotology, rhinology, laryngology, facial trauma, skull base surgery, and reconstructive surgery. The program also emphasizes research, academic development, multidisciplinary patient care, and extensive hands-on surgical training across UAB-affiliated clinical facilities.

Admission Process

Submit the residency application through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
The UAB Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery program reviews applications based on academic and residency-program-related criteria.
Selected applicants are invited for a personal interview; interview invitations are sent formally by letter and/or email.
Applicants participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
Successful applicants are matched to one of the four Post-Graduate Year 1 positions offered annually.
Selected residents begin the five-year Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery Residency Program.
