The Ophthalmology Residency Program at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), Memphis, provides comprehensive clinical and surgical training in ophthalmology following one year of required Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY-1) clinical training. Residents gain hands-on experience in areas including cornea and external disease, cataract surgery, glaucoma, pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus, retina and vitreous, neuro-ophthalmology, ophthalmic pathology, orbit, and oculoplastics. Training takes place across multiple affiliated hospitals and clinics, with opportunities for surgical simulation, research, teaching, and management of a broad range of ophthalmic conditions.
